Ghana’s U-23 national football team, the Black Meteors, is set to face Algeria in the second leg of the final lap of the ongoing preliminary round. The winner of this match will secure their spot in the next Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, slated for later this year.
Speaking ahead of the match, Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko, expressed his optimism and confidence in his team’s ability to emerge victorious.
The first leg, which took place in Annaba last Friday, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scoring a remarkable goal that was later equalised by Bekkouche Chemseddine.
Tanko praised his team for their five-star performance in the first leg and is hopeful that they will replicate the same level of play with home support in today’s game at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“I am confident that we have a team that can deliver and qualify for the U23 AFCON,” said Tanko.
The game is open to the public, with free admission to the two popular stands and the center line.
