The Afigya Kwabre North District in Ghana is set to receive an Ultra-modern Astroturf pitch, thanks to the efforts of Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah, the Member of Parliament for the constituency.
Among those present at the event were the District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre North District, Hon. Karikari Acheamfour, the chief of Ahenkro, Nana Poku Ahenkro Sei IV, Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party.
The project, which is expected to be completed within 6-8 months, is being funded by Ghana Gas and will be constructed by Wembley Sports construction company limited.
Speaking to Oheneba Barima Nana Kay on Fish 88.5FM Adwenkese3 Sports, the MP explained that the new Astroturf is a standard eleven-sided field that has floodlights for night football and will be fenced as well.
The cost of the project is estimated at $300,000, and said to be a great asset to the Afigya Kwabre North District.
The new facility will not only provide a modern and safe space for residents to enjoy football and other sporting activities, but it will also create opportunities for community events like weddings, funerals and other social activities can be hosted.
